Our special guest speaker for this month's general meeting will be Yolanda Hoefman, the department manager of Vliet & Burgh.  Vliet & Burgh has been a long time recipient of the AWC's annual Holiday Toy & Toiletries Drive.

Vliet & Burgh is a youth location of the Salvation Army and offers shelter and guidance to young (teenage) mothers and children who are temporarily unable to live at home. Vliet & Burgh is a location with a long history and is known by many people as a pleasant, safe and quiet place for children and adolescents.

The children who stay with us often come from an unsafe home situation and are then placed out of the house. We try to accommodate them ‘as at home as possible'. A passionate team is available 24/7 for these children to allow normal life to continue as much as possible. Most children are between 6 and 14 years old.

In addition, we have a team for the adolescent mothers: young girls between the ages of 16 and 23 who often got pregnant unintentionally. We pay a lot of attention to the bonding between mother and child and to empowerment of the young mother.

Social Time:  10-10:30 a.m.

Meeting: 10:30 a.m.

PLEASE RSVP SO WE CAN HAVE A HEADCOUNT FOR REFRESHMENTS.
