Where Craftmanship and Science Join

Have you ever wanted to see how artworks are preserved? Then please join AWC member, Gwendolyn P. Boevé-Jones, as she gives us a personalized guided tour of her painting’s conservation atelier Studio Redivivus.

The studio specializes in the conservation and restoration of classic, modern and contemporary paintings. Gwendolyn P. Boevé-Jones graduated as a paintings conservator and art historian from the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University, after which she was awarded the Samuel Kress Conservation Fellowship at the Van Gogh Museum and Kroller-Muller Museum in the Netherlands, going on to work at the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam and eventually setting up her own studio and the founding of Redivivus in 2010.

The studio undertakes treatments to conserve paintings by artists such as Jan van Goyen, Anthony van Dyck, Claude Monet, Mark Rothko and Jean-Michel Basquiat.

The conservators at Redivivus will show you how they undertake treatments and technical research on paintings. With cutting edge devices for the capturing of microscopic images, Infrared and X-ray imaging, the studio is able to document, conserve and restore artworks of historic and aesthetic importance from the past and the present.
