This guided architectural tour of Rotterdam will be through the neighborhoods of The Kop van Zuid and Katendrecht. Guide will be provided by City Rotterdam Tours.
In the Kop van Zuid the focus will be on the development of the Wilhelminapier and the modern architecture, like the striking ‘vertical city’ from acclaimed architect Rem Koolhaas: De Rotterdam. Also very interesting in this tour is the history of the emigrants via the Holland America Line and the iconic Hotel New York.
The Katendrecht is Rotterdam’s former China town and was once the largest red light district of Europe. In the old famous harbour district you can expect all the exciting details about the illustrious past. Highlights of Katendrecht include the Fenix Food Factory and the ocean liner SS Rotterdam.
An optional Italian pasta dinner, hosted by Jules, will follow the tour at a private, little restaurant, “SECRET ON THE SOUTH", which is Jules' home/work/gallery. Registration and more details are on a separate registration.
