FEBRUARY 2023 Monthly Meeting Speaker 

and Optional Lunch


Esther van Leeuweowner of Smaak van de Waard (Taste of the Innkeeper), is a Chef who operates a catering company that uses only regional products from the Rotterdam region. Esther describes herself as a real Burgundian. And, contrary to what people think, she says this goes well with a sustainable food chain. It is her mission to inspire others to reduce food waste as much as possible in their lives.

Smaak van de Waard prefers to work with small local suppliers who consider

sustainability to be of paramount importance. They work slightly differently than

many other caterers in order to produce as much sustainably as possible. They

have managed to have only 1.6% waste, compared to the 30% waste that is

customary in catering industries.

Esther will be sharing her story and mission at the February General Meeting along with providing a catered lunch following the meeting.

Please register and make payment on Wild Apricot if you would like to join for lunch after the meeting.

Cost: €18.50 for lunch menu

The menu is as follows:

Bowl with Bread and Toppings, Soup, Smoothie, Salad, Sweet

  • A beautiful bowl with bread, savory and sweet fillings, homemade and from the region. At least 2 types of cheese, 1 meat product, 1 fish salad, 1 homemade savory spread such as hummus or black garlic butter, homemade chocolate spread and/or cappuccino buttercream.
  • Soup with seasonal vegetables (Vegetarian)
  • Smoothie, a combination of seasonal fruits and vegetables, flavored with fresh herbs, in season from our own garden.
  • A delicious salad
  • Sweets such as American mini brownies or vegan apple cake

Registration is not required for the meeting but is encouraged so we have a good idea how many members will be attending.
