Bloom! January Meeting

Tataki-Zome Botanical Workshop:  Making Art from Nature

Tataki-Zome is the ancient Japanese art of transferring botanical dyes from fresh flowers and leaves onto paper or fabric.  These remarkable results are achieved by simply hammering them onto the surface ("Tataki" meaning "hammering," and "Zome" meaning "dying").

The practice of pounding plants onto fiber to infuse them with color has been in existence since Neolithic times. This distinct type of eco-printing is a unique and stunning way to create art from nature's bounty.
